Basic Training at 457Squadron

We are open to new recruits all year round and, most weeks would see new faces coming through the doors to join the Squadron.

For the first few weeks the new recruits come to the Squadron to the Squadron parades which allows them to get used to us without having to be committed to the Squadron. A structured programme of training, both classroom based and practical hands-on provides them with a good, basic knowledge of the Corps. Uniforms are ordered at the earliest possible opportunity and are issued during the second half of the course, helping the cadets to better integrate themselves into the Squadron. Our 6 month Basic Training Course is finished with a reward of the First Class badge which is then sewn onto the uniform as a symbol of the cadet's competence.

As they pass the First Class test, the cadets would then move on to the Leading group to continue their training. Now they are able to take part in all cadet activities with the exception of age limited activities.
